Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Tarangire National Park.
On the first day of the safari, your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) by your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris. He will welcome you and then brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will drive directly to Tarangire national park renowned for its magnificent baobab trees and its huge, iconic herds of the elephants, which are in hundreds, particularly in the dry season. Upon your arrival, you will immediately begin an extensive game drive. Your guide will focus on the Tarangire River, the park’s lifeline, where you can spot the numerous species gathering to drink, including zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and then various antelopes. Later you will enjoy lunch, after a full day of game viewing, you will exit the park and then drive to a lodge located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area boundary for dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 2: Magnificent Ngorongoro crater Descent.
On the second day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, meet your safari guide and then descent into Ngorongoro crater. You will drive to the crater rim and descent 600 meters (2000 feet) into the vast caldera. This UNESCO World Heritage Site acts as a natural enclosure, supporting an incredibly dense, year-around population of the animals. You will spend the full morning on the crater floor, increasing the chance of sightings all the Big five, with a particular focus on locating the elusive black rhino. Later lunch will be a picnic enjoyed near Ngoitokitok Hippo Pool. In the mid-afternoon you will descent the crater wall and drive to the lodge overlooking the Great Rift Valley near Lake Manyara National Park. Later enjoy your dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley.
On the third day of the safari, after breakfast you will meet your Tanzania safari guide and enter Lake Manyara National Park. This relatively small park offers dramatically different ecosystem, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
Your game drive will take you through groundwater forests, where you might spot blue monkeys, and baboons and then shallow alkaline lake shore. Depending on the water levels, the lake can host thousands of pink flamingos and then other aquatic birds, the park is famous for the tree-climbing lions, a behaviour rarely seen elsewhere. Your guide will search the acacia trees for its unique spectacle. After a full morning’s exploration, you will check out and drive back towards the outskirts of Arusha for your final night.
Day 4: Departure.
On the last day of the safari, enjoy your final relaxed breakfast. Depending on the final flight schedule, you may have time for a short visit to a local craft market or coffee plantation in Arusha area. You will then be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or your accommodation in Arusha, concluding your compact but unforgettable safari experience.
