Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara’s diverse habitats.

On the first day of the safari, your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Arusha, your safari guide will welcome you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park that takes you about 2.5 to 3 hours, taking you through local villages and past the impressive wall of the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival you will immediately begin your first game drive, dedicating the majority of the day to exploring this beautifully diverse park.

Lake Manyara is unique for its environments, with ground forests, acacia woodlands and alkaline soda lake itself. The park is famous for its large troops of baboons and its incredibly high density of elephants, which can often be seen browsing in the forests at close range. Keep your eyes high in the acacia tress for the park’s elusive tree-climbing lions, a rare behavioural trait. The lake shore itself hosts a spectacular variety of birdlife, including thousands of flamingos (seasonal) and a great white pelican. After a packed picnic lunch enjoyed inside the park, you will continue your game drive before exiting the park in the later afternoon. Your journey then proceeds to a lodge in nearby Karatu area, close to Ngorongoro conservation area for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Ngorongoro crater descent and Departure.

On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and then descent into Ngorongoro crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The safari offers you more chances of game viewing during the morning hours when the animals are most active.

The crater floor is an intact volcanic caldera, with massive natural sanctuary, with exceptional concentration of over 25,000 large mammals. Your intensive game drive here offers the most reliable chance in all of Africa to spot the entire Big five, including the critically endangered Black Rhino. You will also encounter large prides of lions, immense herds of zebra and wildebeests and countless hippos and hyenas. After approximately six hours of unparalleled wildlife viewing, you will ascend the crater wall. After the safari, you will go back to Arusha and arrive late in the afternoon and then connect with your flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport that makes your safari come to the end.
